Get the look: A Swedish Home with a Floral Touch!

Why hello there! How are you today? I've been photographing a little corner of my home this morning - and can't wait to show you the results! I need to do a little re-touching first as I didn't notice a purple ball of 'slime' peeping out from under the daybed (mammas and pappas out there, how much are you disliking this homemade slime trend among kids?!). Anyhow, things are on the up again as I stumbled across this lovely Swedish home with a pretty floral accent wall. I couldn't resist putting together a bit of a 'get the look' with the help of Ana (below)...  just in case you're liking it as much as I am! Or else, you could just move in (it's for sale!).... now there's an idea! Gothenburg anyone?

Va fin! 

Do you know what really caught my eye? The indoor climber! These are quite popular in Sweden (my parents-in-law have had one since forever) and I'm happy to see them growing in popularity in the interior world (literally taking the urban jungle theme to new heights!).  Could you imagine growing one in your home? If so, perhaps an inspiration post on these fine specimens might be of interest?

Beautiful small space inspiration - Swedish style!

Hejsan hoppsan! When we were in Norway last week we shared a tiny log cabin with friends. At first we were in a bit of a panic about the size, wondering how we were all going to survive in such close quarters without a bun fight or two! Amazingly, it totally worked out and we put it all down to the owner's clever use of space (and one very relaxing sauna!). I wish I'd taken pictures now (although it does give me an excuse to return, right?!). I'm forever fascinated by small living spaces - and love how even the teeniest spaces can be beautiful (and practical to boot). This apartment in Gothenburg is a mere 38 square metre (409 square foot) and consists of one room and a kitchen, yet it looks spacious and calm thanks to muted, light colours and natural textures (loving the leather chairs!). I could totally imagine rocking about it here today, how about you?!

Oh, how I love this space! The tones (white, cream, tan, pale grey), the lovely light fixtures, the textiles. Everything! What a perfect little pad?!

Main living room: white linen bed set, try My Own Bali for a similar wood and teak chair, ash hooks, the Schooley pendant lamp is similar, Söderhamn sofa (opt for 'without arms'), this blanket is similar.  Kitchen: pestle & mortar (love this!), Era chair, Georg Jensen candle holder (another favourite of mine!).

There are so many small spaces to love in this archive too. What they say about the best things and small packages - there's certainly some truth in that, wouldn't you say?!

A Mysig Swedish Family Home at Christmas

How pretty is this beautiful house in the suburbs of Stockholm, all decked out for Christmas? The beautiful home belongs to interior designer, photographer, storyteller and founder of Wiho Design, Jasmina Bylund who lives with her 'sambo' (live in partner) and their children - Winston (3.5) and Belle (6 months). Jasmina has decorated the house in shades of grey, white and midnight blue and a beautiful blend of old and new. "I don't follow a particular style, I simply follow my heart," Bylund explains.  Jasmina is a big fan of Christmas and loves to "gather family and friends, eat good food, bake, decorate and wrap presents." Evidence of this can be seen throughout their home - which is peppered with subtle festive touches  - including a Kungsgran tree, pretty wreaths, sprigs of pine  and paper star lanterns. No doubt there's snow outside the window too. Åh va mysigt!

Get the look from Jasmina's home: living room - wall hanging from FROSTA design, Menu Turning Table, Hay table, seagrass belly basket. kitchen - wine glass rack. bedroom - on the wall 'Jotun Lady Happy Homes'. This natural bed linen is beautiful. sitting room - Bemz sell lovely linen slipcovers for sofas (see mine here!). The wrapping paper was sourced on Etsy.

For similar paint colours check-out the Jotun Lady range - they have so many beautiful colours (I used Blushing Peach for my bedroom). To achieve a similar textured surface seen on Jasmina's bedroom wall try adding Roll-A-Tex Sand Texture Additive to the paint (I used this in my dining room make-over and it worked wonders!)

A Charming Swedish Home with Beautiful Details

This time of the year can get a little crazy - don't you think? If you're looking for a little respite, you're in the right place this morning! This charming Swedish apartment in the heart of Gothenburg features beautiful details - including original wood flooring, a fab tiled floor in the hallway and scalloped internal windows - and the best news? There's not a Christmas decoration in site. Well, actually, there's one star light - but you know.... it's so pretty it could totally be up all year round. So if you're looking for your moment of calm today, step this way...!

Old meets new in stunning Vrångsholmen

Well hello! I have to confess I feel a little worse for wear today (totally self-induced of course!). In fact, I could totally see myself rocking about in this beautiful space - with it's lowered lighting, and soothing, dark, earthy tones right now. The striking images are the result of a shoot by (the a-ma-zing Gothenburg store Artilleriet, using Vrångsholmen as a backdrop. Vrångsholmen was originally built to save children from the dangers of city life by providing a safe rural haven, these days it's run by artists, artisans, musicians, dancers and architects who use the space for artistic productions, rehearsals, courses and educational activities.

I love the peeling paint and scuffed floors, there's something almost poetic about the space.
