The lovely home of a Danish artist

Why, hello there! It's miserable outside today and probably never really going to get light, but I don't mind because it's my biiiiiiiiiiirthday! Now, I know you're not really meant to make a song and dance about these things, but you know, life's short and I actually really do like to sing (not very well) and dance (even worse) each year on this day!! It kicked off beautifully with a surprise 'full english breakfast' (no easy feat in Sweden, and the man and my girls nailed it!!) so things are going exceedingly well..... Anyway, I digress, I've prepared a post featuring the most fabulous Danish apartment for you today. Owner, Anne Aarsland is exactly the same age as me (that young? I hear you say!). The only difference is that she lives and works in Copenhagen and is "an astronomer with a liberating legendary approach to painting." Anne's work is characterised by stripes, dots and triangles in all angles and constellations, using repetition and abstract pattern formations to develop and change the shapes and can be seen throughout the living space. On with the tour!

Aaaaah, what a great home! Anne's art totally makes the space, don't you think?! - and rightly so!

The high ceilings, spacious rooms and general style reminds me a little of the home of Karen Maj Kornum who's home I posted about here and here  (and also featured on the front cover of  my book The Scandinavian Home). What do you think?

The calm Danish home of Emilie Schwartzlose

Hej hej! I'm just packing for my flight back to Sweden after a brilliant few days in London (I do love being back home in the big smoke!). I fly via Copenhagen and I'm soooo tempted to go for a wander (must organise a day in Denmark's capital ASAP!). The Danes have such a great sense of style. This home of Emilie Schwartzlose in Frederikshavn, North Jutlund, is fairly small in size (52 square metres / square feet) but what it lacks in square metres it certainly makes up for in aesthetics. The space is characterised by soft, earthy green hues, natural textures and as Danish magazine, Bolig describes it a 'poetic' appeal. Oh and it's also enjoyed by her furry friend, Charlie. Here are a few snaps from Emilie's lovely home...

The relaxed Danish home of Line Stützer

Oh have I got a lovely home to share with you today! This beautiful, relaxed Danish home belongs to Line Stützer, a service designer at Hello Group, husband Henrik and their adorable dog Betty. Line has decorated their Copenhagen apartment with a blend of art deco, new nordic, and vintage finds resulting in a style she describes as 'classic yet modern, a balance between masculine and feminine, and playful.' Let's take a peek...

Such a wonderful space - loving all the colours and unique touches, how about you?!

Get the look: Noguchi table,  Söderhamn sofa (try Bemz for a yellow cover like this), pick up a teak side cupboard here, source retro dining chairs here (there are some absolutely beautiful ones!). Macrame hanging planter.

A Danish home full of vintage finds

Hej hej! How are you today? It's my penultimate day here in Hesinki and I have to say I'm going to be sad to leave - I love the Finnish capital! have you been here? Last night we went out for the most amazing meal at restaurant Grön (a must if you're ever in town) and today I'm taking part in a panel discussion at Habitare (eeeeee! wish me luck!). But before then, I thought I'd pop in and share this beautiful Danish home with you. This three-storey townhouse in Fredericia, Jutland belongs to Anne Romedahl, her husband, two daughters and son. Anne is a teacher with a passion for interior decorating and flea markets. As a result, her home is a made up of a beautiful, 'personal mix of second hand finds, retro, Danish design and many DIY items'. Keep an eye out for the subtle paint colours too (loving the two tone wall in the hall and stairwell!). Enjoy!

Oh how I love this home! It's such a fascinating blend of pieces and has a wonderful Danish feel about it. It's really homely too.

Get the look: dining room - could these be the saucer pendants? The lovely pale blue cups and saucers look like Bröste Copenhagen, pick up a mid-century credenza / side-table here, these little rugs are super cute - I'm not sure if they ship worldwide but worth a shot?!
